Archival Collections at the Greene Foundation
Our Harry Sutherland Philatelic Library and Archives team is pleased to announce that we are making our archival collections more accessible than ever before! We have created a page on our website which contains detailed Archival Finding Aids for the collections in our holdings.
The Harry Sutherland Philatelic Library’s Archival Collections hold material from philatelists, philatelic organizations, and other figures or entities relevant to Canadian philatelic history.
Our institution currently holds donations of archival collections from philatelic organizations, and prominent philatelists or their estates. The acquisition of archival material is at the discretion of library staff with advisal from the library committee. If you would like to discuss donating your papers to the HSPL’s Archive, please contact us here.
In addition to the larger archival collections which were created by one entity or individual, we also have a series of Vertical Files which are clippings and ephemera files on various subjects such as organized philately, postal history, and Canada Post. The general index for these Vertical Files is also available on the Archival Holdings page on our website.
We are working through a large backlog of materials, and will continuously update our Finding Aid list on our website, so keep checking back as we process more material! We have only just scratched the surface of the items in our holdings. This process takes time, as we are describing the items in these collections, conducting research into the subject and creator of the collection, and rehousing the material into proper archival boxes and folders that will preserve it for generations to come.
