Artificial intelligence (AI) has moved from novelty to utility in philately. Tools that identify stamps from images, retrieve auction records, summarize research literature, draft exhibit text, and interrogate datasets are now accessible to ordinary collectors. This article surveys the principal applications and explains, in plain language, how large language models and machine learning systems work, and why their value depends on the quality of their training data.
